Experience:

Experience and/or knowledge working within 2SLGBTQ+ communities, diversity community, human rights, social justice, community organizing, and events organizing.

Background & Mandate of the Organization:

The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) intersectionally promotes diversity in gender identity, gender expression, and romantic and/or sexual orientation in all its forms on a national level through services in the areas of education, health, and advocacy. Summary of Position:

The CCGSD is seeking four summer coordinators, to fulfill a variety of positions. We are looking to hire:

  • 1x Graphic Designer,
  • 1x French Language Resource Coordinator,
  • 1x Communications Coordinator,
  • 2x Community Coordinators,

Graphic Designer

The ideal candidate is in a similar field of study and is interested in work experience creating multi-faceted content. Filling a need for internal content, this position will work with program staff to enhance brand materials. This will include: posters, resources, work-booklets, templates,  fundraising graphics, infographics, and other promotional content. Ideal skills include graphic design, web content creation, coding experience, and search engine optimization.

French Language Resource Coordinator

The ideal candidate is fully bilingual in English and French and is engaged in a field of study related to languages or translation. Filling a need for bilingual resources, this position will work with program staff to enhance communications, resources, and the website. Ideal skills include translation, competency with wordpress, and content creation.

Communications Coordinator

The ideal candidate is in a similar field of study and is interested in work experience related to content creation. Filling a need for internal and external communications, the Communications Assistant will work directly with the Executive Director to execute Preparing and editing CCGSD materials, will be a key part of this position. This will primarily involve: fundraising, social media, the website, and other promotional materials. Ideals skills include an interest in graphic design, social media engagement, NGO marketing, and public relations.

Community Coordinator

The ideal candidate is in a field of study that emphasizes social justice and is interested in work experience planning events and supporting CCGSD pride related programming. Filling a need for annual projects, this position will work with program staff to enhance projects including: proud city, our database projects, and history related summer programming. This will include planning small events, updating databases, general admin support, and staffing events on weekends/events. Ideal skills include event planning, public speaking, and experience as a brand/organizational representative.

Potential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares a work plan with timelines, goals and activities, and monitors the progress throughout the duration of the program;
  • Prepares, monitors, and maintains a transparent budget for the program;
  • Responsible for logistics pertaining to the organization of projects and events;
  • Networking, cold-calling, and building relationships with 2SLGBTQ+ service providers across Canada;
  • Create tools and surveys to identify the current work being done;
  • Monitor, track, evaluate and report on the progress of the program to the senior management team, staff and the CCGSD Board;
  • Liaise between the CCGSD and coalition/networks of 2SLGBTQ+ service providers, to offer training, support, resources etc.;
  • Represents the CCGSD at sport inclusion partnerships, suppliers’ organizations, events and committees;
  • Develop and run promotional campaigns;
  • In addition, the successful candidate can expect to take on a range of other related duties as necessary, and to participate fully in the meetings and activities in the office as required by the Director and Senior Management Staff.

Skills & Abilities

Language

  • Proficiency in French is an asset;
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, procedure manuals and proposals;
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from youth and service providers;

Computer

  • Knowledge of a variety of software programs and online platforms, which can include Dropbox, Google Drive, Gmail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Evernote, Facebook, Twitter, teleconferencing, webinar etc. (training using these programs will be part of the orientation process);
  • Manage basic audio-visual and multi-media, as needed for workshops and program;
  • A willingness to learn new software and programs is a must.

Other

  • 2SLGBTQ personal experiences;
  • Self-motivation and monitoring;
  • The ability to work with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • A driver’s license would be an asset;
  • ASIST training and any support work credentials/experience are an asset;
  • Anti-oppression training would be an asset.
