Celebrating the International Day of Pink 2020: Living Our History

Celebrating the International Day of Pink 2020: Living Our History

Happy International Day of Pink from the Staff and Board of CCGSD! We wish we could celebrate with you in your schools and communities as we always have to back you up while you stand up to bullies and help fight discrimination. But this year is different. We are home with ourselves and our thoughts on how to make the world a better place. We are getting creative. The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted our reality and we need to come together to support each other while staying 2 meters apart.

So, instead of an in person celebration, we will do it online, but we will still do it together.

This year, we are living history. Our experiences, feelings, ideas and perceptions are that history. We are Living Our History.

CCGSD’s International Day of Pink Celebration is a call to 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, and allies, to submit a piece that shows your experience, or that of a loved one, as a 2SLGBTQIA+ person in the time of COVID-19. You can use whichever medium you choose. Submissions are due by May 8, 2020.

5 submissions will be selected to be purchased for the permanent exhibit at CCGSD’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Museum when it opens. These artists will receive a small commission of $200 for their work and, once we can, we will collect any originals for the museum.

Theme:  The experiences 2SLGBTQIA+ people in the time of COVID-19

Types of submissions/Artistic Media: sculptures, poems, dances, monologues/theatrical performances, short stories, scripts and/or screenplays, songs, musical pieces, paintings, videos, photographs, drawings, etc. If you can create it, you can submit it!
