Synopsis:

Franky Winter (Josh Wiggins) and Ballas Kohl (Darren Mann) have been best friends since childhood. They are high school royalty: handsome, stars of the swim team and popular with girls. They live a perfect teenage life – until the night of Franky’s epic 17th birthday party, when Franky and Ballas are involved in an unexpected incident that changes their lives forever.

Giant Little Ones is directed by Keith Behrman and stars Maria Bello and Kyle MacLachlan.

Please enter the contest for 2 free tickets to see Giant Little Ones in theatres by providing your name and email (this contest is Toronto specific). Winners will be selected at random. Each person may only enter the contest once.

Please note that the team at CCGSD has not reviewed the movie and are unable to speak to its content, endorse or offer trigger warnings.

The film opens in Toronto and Vancouver on March 29th in select theatres. We hope to see you there

Also, Mongrel Media is working with the organization LOVEISLOVEISLOVE to raise money for academic scholarships to support LGBTQ+ youth in Ontario.

All proceeds from the March 21st fundraiser and screening of the film GIANT LITTLE ONES will be donated towards scholarships for LGBTQ+ youth who are part of the STEM program in high schools and want to pursue these courses in university.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics and we want to create more opportunities for LGBTQ+ youth who are vastly underrepresented in these fields.

I hope you can come out to watch this critically acclaimed film, including a special Q and A with the director and select Canadian cast.

There are also 100 VIP tickets available for an exclusive after party with food, drink and a limited edition collectable full-size poster from the film. Only 500 were printed for release.

If you can’t make it out, I hope that you can support this initiative and buy some tickets for others to experience this fun and empowering film that critics are calling “Momentous” , “Immaculate and nuanced” and “A gift”

….. or just donate to the cause!

“Momentous… ‘Giant Little Ones’ succeeds when it chooses to treat youthful identity as open to shift with accumulated experience.”

-Teo Bugbee, The New York Times

“‘Giant Little Ones’ is that rare coming-of-age story that rises above cliché… a very fine, immaculate and nuanced film indeed.”

-Rex Reed, NY Observer

“I imagine many young people will feel an enormous weight lifted off of them after watching this movie, as the stigma limiting their own personal expression starts to dissolve. What a gift.”

-Matt Fagerholm, RogerEbert.com

Tickets are $20 for the film and $40 for the limited VIP package with film and afterparty
