Last week was probably the busiest week of JersVision.org history, and it was awesome!
In Toronto, over 250 delegates from nearly 200 LGBTQ-A* organizations from every province and territory connected and committed to working together at the Dare to Stand Out: LGBTQ-A* Service Providers Summit, presented by JersVision.org. Check out some feature articles in Xtra.ca & TypeQ.ca.
We are proud to say that our team is working on the evaluation and final report right now, and will have it for you in one month. A special thank you to all the sponsor and volunteers who helped make it happen, and thank you to the amazing delegates who make the event a huge success!
At the same time as the Summit, all the way in Ottawa our production ofSappho…in 9 fragments won the “Ottawa Fringe’s Outstanding Design Award” and “Metro News’ Best in Fest”.
Because of overwhelming sold out audiences, we are excited to be presenting 3 additional shows at the Ottawa Arts Court July 4-6 at 8pm. Get your tickets now online for only $12 before they sell out!
Speaking of theatre, we are also partnering up with the Red.Collective to present the Laramie Project: Ten Years Later on July 11th at 7:30 at the Gladstone Theatre.
This incredible show revisits the town where Matthew Shepard was murdered ten years later. The show tells the story of the progress and lack of progress following this infamous homophobic attack, and the attitudes of residences at the time. Audiences might be shocked to find out how little things have changed in 25 years.
Tickets are available at RedColletctive.WordPress.com, The Gladstone Theatre, with more information on Facebook.
I would also like to invite you to an Ottawa-Gatineau first, Picnic in White. This international summer event phenomenon will magically transport you to an evening of decadence with special performances and surprises like you have never seen before. The event is selling out fast, sograb your friends and get your tickets now! Proceeds from the event will support JersVision.org’s anti-bullying programming in schools. More info is at PicnicEnBlanc.ca
Oh, and on Canada Day (happy belated Canada Day by the way), I found out I was featured in CBC’s Great Canadians Near You! Thank you for the honor, and feel free to check out the featurette here.
Have a great Thursday, and see you throughout the summer!
