Toronto Fashion Hackathon

The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity is proud to be partnering with Ryerson University and the Toronto District School Board to present the first annual Toronto Fashion Hackathon! The Hackathon is an opportunity for LGBTQ2S+ identified and questioning students to come together and learn from industry experts about self-expression through fashion. Ryerson professors Ben Barry and Daniel Drak will engage students in lessons on gender expression, body positivity, and media. Students will be able to create their own clothing at the forum that they feel expresses themselves.

It is our hope that students will leave with a better understanding of media impacts on body-image and mental health, how fashion can and is used as a form of individual expression, and how gender identity is expressed. By having the students create their own style using articles of clothing provided by the Centre, we hope that they are able to freely and openly express themselves and their identities.
