After the GSA Forum, Team Education returned to Ottawa and spent the next two weeks presenting workshops and tabling at several community events. On Wednesday May 18th, Katie McCarthy headed to Earl of March to take part in their Health and Wellness Day. It was a great success and students were particularly interested in our new pronoun buttons, which they eagerly snatched-up. The following day, May 19th, Rhube and Mylene headed to Glebe H.S. to present a full day of GRIS workshops to physical education classes.
We would like to thank Anne and Emily for continuing to work with us over the last several years and ensuring a strong link between CCGSD and Glebe Highschool. Moving onto May 25th, Rhube presented their final GRIS workshop at Gloucester Highschool. Rhube has been part of Team Education since August 2015 and we would like to formally thank him for all of his amazing work combating Cissexism within workshops. Finally, On Friday May 27th, Cameron and Katie attended the annual Mental Health Update for Primary Care Providers, run through Ottawa University. Cameron spoke briefly about potential resources available for physicians to improve their knowledge of transgender and gender non-conforming patients and Katie answered questions surrounding Ottawa specific resources.
