The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity is proud to present our 5th Annual Ontario Educators’ Conference (April 25, 2019); and LGBT2SQ+ Educator’s Conversation 2019 (April 26, 2019) in collaboration with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto.
Join 100s of educators, administrators, and youth service workers from across the province on April 25th-26th, 2019 at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) (252 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON). The flagship event will be on April 25th, and will be a more general day for service providers servicing or working with Queer and Trans communities. The second day on April 26th, the LGBT2SQ+ Educators Conversation, will be geared towards LGBT2SQ+ Educators and Teachers and will focus more on topics relating to the pedagogy of equity and inclusive education. We have decided against having another day specifically for Catholic Educators, but we instead commit to having programming options around these intersections.
Conference participants will be given hands-on tools from educational professionals, lawyers, LGBT2sQ advocates, and academics to understand and recognize the issues faced by LGBT2SQ communities. While programming is still under development, we hope to, as always, have workshops and panels that touch on contemporary issues in education.
Potential Conference highlights:
This year, we believe some of these topics could include: legal rights of teachers, teaching Sex Ed. with limited support, external Sex Ed. resources, and integrating consent and equity into other subjects.
Highlights for Ontario Educators’ Conference (April 25, 2019):
The flagship event will be on April 25th, and will be a more general day for service providers servicing or working with Queer and Trans communities.
