Kole Peplinskie is a queer, Two-Spirit Algonquin from Migizy Odenaw, Eagle Village First Nation. They were born and raised in North Bay, Ontario and moved to Ottawa to pursue post-secondary education and to explore life beyond a small town. They are currently working towards a degree in Sociology and Gender Studies at the University of Ottawa. Since moving to Ottawa, Kole has been active in the queer community through volunteering with various organizations and presenting workshops on subjects such as decolonizing gender and two-spirit roles, bullying, healthy relationships, coming out, and answering any questions about being a part of the LGBTQ community.
Over the past two years Kole has worked at CCGSD in various event and programming coordination/management roles, and can currently be found managing the Two Spirit Inclusion Campaign set to be launched on August 19, 2016.
They are on a continuous journey of learning, relearning, decolonization, and reclaiming their queer indigenous identity.
Kole is our team’s Two Spirit Coordinator and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
