Jer's Vision partners with PFLAG to Inspire Change

November 3, 2011

SUBJECT:        Jer’s Vision – Anti-bullying and Anti-discrimination Event

Bullying is very real and takes places far too often in our schools and in our communities.  Fortunately, we have people in our world who are willing to speak-up and lend their voice to addressing homophobia, racism and discrimination of all kinds.  One such person is youth diversity leader, Jeremy Dias.

Jeremy Dias, like so many youth, was bullied in his high school.  As a result of his experiences, he challenged his school and school board at the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and after three years, at the age of 21, was awarded a settlement.  Feeling strongly that the funds should go towards making a difference in his community, Jeremy and a few friends founded the Jeremy Dias scholarship, an award for graduating youth working to stop bullying in their schools. Jeremy and his friends later went on to found Jer’s Vision a registered charity that works to support youth and stop bullying and discrimination of all kinds.

PFLAG Canada Brockville invites you to an evening presentation with Jeremy Dias.

Sponsored by Team Patry; Jeff and Melissa Patry of Royal Lepage and in partnership with PFLAG Canada Brockville, this event will be held at the Brockville Collegiate Institute (BCI auditorium) on Thursday November 17, 2011 at 7 pm. We encourage everyone to attend. This session is FREE however, donations are graciously accepted. All proceeds will go to support PFLAG Canada Brockville and Jer’s Vision.

PFLAG Canada is Canada’s only national organization that helps all Canadians who are struggling with issues of sexual orientation and gender identity.
