Terms of Employment: Full-Time

Anticipated Start Date: September 15th, 2016

Salary: $32,000-$35,000; with optional benefits package

Languages: English (French is an asset)

Education: Post-secondary degree (encouraged), experience will be taken into consideration.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience designing, implementing, managing educational programming; 2 years of volunteer coordination;. Also experience working with youth; with sports organizations; community outreach; office administration; report writing and inter-departmental communication are required.

Summary of Position

The CCGSD is seeking a Sports Inclusion Coordinator with strong understanding of LGBTQ+ communities, sports and a passion for social justice. The Sports Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for providing workshops to train amateur athletes and coaches across Ontario to challenge homophobia and transphobia in sports. This position involves reaching out to and collaborating with communities across Ontario that have a need for diversity programming (ex. support, resources or training) in their sport communities and businesses.

Sports Inclusion Coordinator Responsibilities

 Prepares a work plan with timelines, goals and activities, and monitors the progress throughout the duration of the     program;

 Prepares, monitors, and maintains a transparent budget for the program;

 Coordinates marketing, promotion and media relations;

 Recruits, interviews, and trains volunteers;

 Networking, cold-calling and building relationships with sports organizations across Ontario to determine needs         with regards to sports inclusion and booking workshops;

 Creating, tailoring content, and facilitating workshops for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports settings across Ontario;

 Monitor, track, evaluate and report on the progress of the program to the senior management team, staff and               external stakeholders;

 Represents the CCGSD at sport inclusion partnerships, suppliers’organizations, events and committees;

 Collaborate with, and maintain, the Sports Inclusion Program’s Advisory Committee;

 Must be willing to travel frequently within and outside of Ottawa to conduct workshops and training for sports             leagues/organizations/businesses.

 Responsible for logistics pertaining to facilitating workshops (ex. booking travel and accommodations)

 In addition, the successful candidate can expect to take on a range of other related duties as necessary, and to               participate fully in the meetings and activities in the office as required by the Director and Senior                                     Management Staff.

Qualification Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, continuous proactive skill and/or abilities required. Applicants must also be able to speak to the intersection of oppression in sports, either lived or observed.

Skills & Abilities

Language

 Proficiency in French is an asset;

 Ability to write reports, correspondence, procedure manuals and proposals;

 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of athletes, coaches, directors or         parents.

Computer

 Knowledge of a variety of software programs and online platforms, which can include Dropbox, Google Drive,             Gmail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Evernote, Facebook, Twitter, etc. (training using these programs will be         part of the orientation process);

 Manage basic audio-visual and multi-media, as needed for workshops and program;

 A willingness to learn new software and programs is a must.

Other

 LGBTQ+ personal experience;

 Self-motivation and monitoring;

 The ability to work with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds;

 Strong communication skills;

 Diplomacy, tact, and a sense of humour are important to the success of this person.;

 A driver’s license would be an asset;

 ASIST training and any support work credentials/experience are an asset;

 Anti-oppression training would be an asset.
