This week, team education did things a little differently. Zoe presented at Bell High School’s Discovery Day, while Tarah presented at West Carleton High School’s Wellness Symposium. Bell High School opted to have a full day of workshops about demistifying gender and sexuality, while West Carleton requested demistifying gender and sexuality, as well as an allyship 101 workshop.
The teachers and students at both of schools were a pleasure to work with. Our volunteers also played a large role in making this weeks workshops possible. Some of the feedback that we received from the schools were…
“Thank you for taking the time to try and educate us in detail. It would be hard to ask questions about sexuality, but you two made the room feel positive.”
“I thought the workshop was very informative. The atmosphere was easy, and relaxed. I learned a lot about oppression and stereotypes.”
“I liked this workshop because I think it’s important to stop homophobia and transphobia, and to respect everyone.”
“I’m going to try my best to treat queer and transgender people with even more kindness and respect.”
