Please be our guest on Wednesday, April 13th, 2016, as we celebrate our 11th anniversary! We at the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity proudly host our annual #DayofPink Gala at the Horticulture Building (1525 Princess Patricia Way), at Lansdowne Park at 6:30PM.
The Gala is a fabulous event featuring a reception and an award ceremony. At the award ceremony, we will give Awards to leaders from across Canada who have gone above and beyond in the fight against bullying and discrimination.
This year’s award winners are
- Nance Lomax (Stonewall Riot veteran; Stonewall Veterans’ Association);
- Suzanne Poli (LGBTQ historian & photographer; Stonewall Veterans’ Association);
- Kim Katrin Milan (writer, educator & artist; see Kim’s website here);
- and Kalyani Pandya (local LGBTQ activist & comedian), .
- Click here for a list of past recipients.
Following events in Ottawa, this year’s event is also proud to pay tribute to queer & trans people of colour featuring performers from a special curated group of local artists and performers. Please click here for list of artists.
Last year, we were joined by more than 4 dozen elected representatives from all levels of government, alongside business executives, non-profit directors, ambassadors and community leaders.
The gala is a free event. Our goal with the Gala is not to raise money, but to build community and celebrate the success of CCGSD over the past year. There will be hors d’oeuvres provided free of charge, and beverages will be available through a cash bar. We will also have a raffle and silent auction to help raise funds for the gala. Our VIPink guests will be provided free beverages throughout the night, priority seating during the award ceremony, and will have their name added to the VIPink exclusive raffle.
The CCGSD is always focused on our work in schools. As such, we are proud to announce that this event is a zero-budget event, with any profits made funneled directly into our programming across Canada.
This event is fully accessible.
Recommended dresscode: Semi-formal.
To support our work in our community we also have VIPink tickets for sale here.
Thank you to our sponsors, community partners & supporters .
