Dare to Stand Out: Ottawa

This past weekend was the Ottawa edition of our DTSO conference series. The event was held at Lisgar Collegiate on Saturday March 3rd and ran from 9a.m. until 4p.m. A huge thanks goes out to Lisgar students Adriaan and Merissa – their enthusiastic emceeing kept the energy levels high and the day running smoothly on top of tunes spun by the fabulous DJ Morris Rothman. The Keynote by Ryan G. Hinds was a loud and proud display of show tunes and glitter, the workshops were insightful, and the lunchtime drag show had everybody dancing up a storm. The afternoon held some wonderful speakers – Dan Irving, Noreen Fagan, Ben Marmer and Tania Dopler. Each of them had an equally touching story to tell and kept the crowd riveted. Starbucks provided us with a necessary jolt of caffeine and Connor’s Pub made sure we were well fed with some delicious home-style Shepherd’s Pie. A special shout out to TD who sent their wonderful volunteers and to RBC for making it all happen.  Thank you to everyone who came out!
