Dare to Stand Out B.C. (Coast Salish Territories) Conference showcasesTwo Spirit and Black Lesbian Identities

In the morning of April 28, 2014, students from the Vancouver School Board finally had the chance to attend their own Dare To Stand Out conference hosted by Jer’s Vision.

The day kicked off with keynote speeches by Tami Starlight, Valerie Mason-John, and Cory Oskam, who inspired the students beautifully with their words. Afterwards, the students had a wide variety of workshops to choose from, which ranged in topics such as sexual health, trans allyship, short films made by queer youth, a trans support group, and lessons on how to improve or create a GSA.
The responses from students and teachers alike were very positive, so the Jer’s Vision team knows they’ll be welcomed back in Vancouver anytime!
