Brandon Bourcier originates from Espanola Ontario, which boasts two Tim Hortons and three sets of traffic lights. Yearning for bigger and better things, he moved to Ottawa in 2010 to pursue a bachelors degree in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. Always trying to stay as involved with the community as possible, he played on multiple intramural sports teams throughout his university career on top of working with the Special Olympics Ottawa Charter, and being elected as the Philanthropic Coordinator for his program in 2014.
His love for sport and his passion for making connections and helping others, along with the constant struggle of being a gay man battling the hyper masculine stereotypes of sports in society, is what lead him to his role as Sport Inclusion Coordinator at the CCGSD. He hopes that with his extensive sport background he can be a strong advocate in the inclusivity of all in sport and recreation, as well as facilitate awareness for the health and safety needs of all LGBTTQ+ athletes and sport lovers.
In his spare time, you can find Brandon utilizing many of Ottawa’s outdoor activities, whether that be skating on the canal or long boarding through the bike paths. Or if you catch him on a lazy day, you’l most likely find him binge watching his favourite TV shows or learning some new tunes on his keyboard or guitar.
